How Invisalign Works

The teeth are gradually shifted using a progressive series of clear plastic aligners designed using a digital scan of the mouth, and they are worn for about 20-22 hours a day. After a set has been used for about one to two weeks, the patient will move on to the next, each bringing them a step closer to their final result. They’ll be asked to attend regular progress checks every six to eight weeks so our team can make sure everything is moving as planned, plus we can fine-tune things along the way.

Who Can Invisalign Help?

If you're currently deailing with overcrowding, an overbite, or another common orthodontic problem, we have good news: Invisalign is extremely versatile! This clear aligner system has proven to be effective at correcting mild to moderate cases of:

Crowded Teeth

Do your teeth overlap? If so, you know firsthand how easily food particles and other debris can get stuck between them. Not only that, but overcrowding can draw unwanted attention to your smile, negatively impacting your self-esteem in the process. Fortunately, Invisalign is often an option for patients with mild to moderate crowding.

Gaps Between Teeth

Of course, some patients are struggling with issues stemming from the opposite problem: there is too much space between their teeth. We can create a custom series of clear aligners to gently and gradually close the gaps, creating a healthier and even more beautiful smile in the process.

Overbite

Do your upper teeth dramatically extend beyond your lower teeth? If so, you likely have an overbite. Sadly, even relatively mild cases can lead to several issues, including trouble enunciating clearly. Fortunately, we can align your teeth and bite with clear, comfortable, and convenient aligners.

Underbite

As you may have guessed from the name, an underbite is when the lower teeth sit in front of the upper ones. This orthodontic problem can lead to several issues, including trouble chewing properly, enunciating clearly, and smiling confidently. There is some good news, though: mild to moderate cases can often be addressed with clear aligners.

Crossbite

What if only a few of your upper teeth sit behind your lower ones when you bite down? If that’s the case, then you likely have a crossbite. Like the other bite problems on this list, several issues can arise if left untreated, including premature wear and tear on certain teeth. If we decide together that clear aligners can help, then we will get to work creating a custom series for you.

Open Bite

When you bite down, are your upper and lower teeth unable to meet? If that’s the case, then you likely have an open bite. There are a few ways we can fix this, with Invisalign being especially well-suited to the task.

Basically Invisible Braces

Everyone knows when a person has metal braces. In fact, that’s why so many image-conscious teens and adults don’t pursue orthodontic treatment! If that’s the case for you, then you’ll be happy to hear that Invisalign aligners are basically invisible because they are crafted from see-through plastic and custom-made to fit the contours of your teeth perfectly. As a result, even your closest friends and family members won’t notice your trays unless you tell them.

Improved Comfort

Metal-free braces aren’t just more discreet; they are also considerably more comfortable thanks to the smooth plastic. So, if you choose Invisalign, you’ll have a smoother path to your dream smile.

No Dietary Restrictions

With traditional braces, patients need to alter their diet to avoid breaking a bracket or wire. With Invisalign, that’s not necessary because the aligners are removable. So, as long as you take them off before eating or drinking anything (other than water, of course), you can maintain your regular diet throughout your orthodontic treatment.

Easy Maintenance

Another perk of removable aligners: you don’t have to adopt a new oral hygiene regimen like with regular braces. Once you take them off, you can brush, floss, and rinse with mouthwash like usual. Keeping the aligners clean and clear is easy too since you really only need three things: water, a soft-bristle toothbrush, and mild dishwashing liquid.

Shorter Average Treatment Time

Usually, traditional braces take 2-3 years. Invisalign, on the other hand, can often deliver results in 12-18 months. So, if you begin the process now, there’s a good chance that you’ll have a considerably straighter smile by this time next year. Plus, since the aligners are see-through and removable, you won’t have to wait until then to enjoy the results; you’ll be able to see improvements along the way.

No Monthly Adjustment Appointments

If your schedule is jam-packed with classes, work, or being a parent, then you’ll be happy to hear that you don’t need to commit to monthly adjustment appointments with Invisalign. Since you’ll be given several sets of aligners at a time, you can progress through portions of your treatment plan at home. Then, you’ll come to our office every 6-8 weeks so we can make sure your teeth are moving as anticipated and provide you with the next sets of trays in the series.

Understanding the Cost of Invisalign

One of the most common questions we get during the consultation is: How much does Invisalign cost? Once we know more about your treatment, including how many aligners need to be made, we can provide you with an answer and discuss the different financial solutions that are available.

Factors That Affect the Cost of Invisalign

The cost of Invisalign in Peabody can vary. That’s why it’s so important for us to complete a comprehensive oral exam! In the process, we will determine:

  • If any preliminary care is needed, like for cavities or gum disease
  • If single-arch treatment is possible
  • How many aligners need to be made
  • If attachments, buttons, or rubber bands are needed

Invisalign vs. Mail-Order Aligners: Which Costs More?

Usually, mail-order alternatives are cheaper because they bypass the initial exam and rely on DIY impressions. Some don’t hire a licensed dental professional to oversee the teeth-straightening process, either! This can lead to several issues, including worsened misalignment and loose teeth, which is why it’s always best to choose a reputable and trustworthy orthodontic treatment, like Invisalign, that will be designed and overseen by a professional.

Does Dental Insurance Cover Invisalign?

Some dental insurance providers cover a portion of the cost of orthodontic treatment. If you don't feel like combing through and deciphering your benefits, you can provide us with your membership information. Since we accept many of the leading providers, we can assist with the process of utilizing your coverage to the fullest.

Options for Making Invisalign Affordable

What if you don’t have dental insurance? If that’s the case, then consider signing up for CareCredit! This trusted third-party financier offers convenient payment plans so you don’t have to pay for the entire cost of your Invisalign treatment at once. Instead, you can break up the cost into smaller chunks that fit comfortably within your monthly budget. If you’re interested in learning more about this financial solution, then give us a call so we can provide further details, including how to sign up.
